Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Medical Director specializing in Dermatology and/or Plastic Surgery to provide clinical leadership and oversight for our growing telehealth practice. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered virtual care while maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
The Medical Director will collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and operational leadership to develop clinical protocols, oversee quality assurance initiatives, support provider performance, and drive the continued growth of the organization's telehealth services.
This position offers flexibility while playing a critical leadership role in shaping innovative virtual healthcare solutions in dermatology, cosmetic medicine, and plastic surgery consultations.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight & Leadership
- Provide medical direction and oversight for telehealth dermatology and plastic surgery services.
- Establish, review, and maintain evidence-based clinical guidelines, protocols, and standards of care.
- Ensure telehealth services are delivered in compliance with applicable state licensing regulations and professional practice standards.
- Serve as the clinical authority for complex patient cases and provider consultations.
- Support the safe and appropriate utilization of telemedicine technologies.
Provider Supervision & Collaboration
- Provide collaborative and supervisory support to Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) as required by state regulations.
- Participate in provider onboarding, training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Conduct periodic chart reviews and quality assessments.
- Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Lead clinical quality improvement initiatives and peer review activities.
- Monitor patient outcomes, provider performance, and adherence to telehealth best practices.
- Review patient complaints, adverse events, and clinical escalations, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state telemedicine laws, payer requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Support accreditation, credentialing, and audit readiness activities.
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to support growth initiatives and expansion into new markets.
- Evaluate emerging telehealth technologies, dermatologic treatments, and aesthetic service offerings.
- Assist in the development of workflows that improve patient access, provider efficiency, and clinical outcomes.
- Provide clinical input on marketing content, patient education materials, and service line development.
Clinical Practice
- Maintain an active clinical presence through telehealth consultations as needed.
- Provide virtual evaluations, treatment recommendations, and follow-up care within scope of practice and state licensure.
- Support patient education and continuity of care initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified in Dermatology or Plastic Surgery.
- Fellowship training in Cosmetic Dermatology, Aesthetic Medicine, Reconstructive Surgery, or related specialty is preferred but not required
Licensure
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
- Multiple state licenses strongly preferred.
- Active DEA registration (if applicable).
Experience
- Experience supporting aesthetic, cosmetic, and medical dermatology programs.
- With post-residency clinical experience in Dermatology or Plastic Surgery.
- Previous Medical Director, Supervising Physician, or Clinical Leadership experience preferred.
- Experience providing telehealth or virtual care services strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with multi-state telemedicine regulations and compliance requirements.
