We are seeking a Finance Controller to support our team at Tarkett Sports. Based at Classic Turf in Woodbury, Connecticut and reporting to the Finance Director of Tracks & Courts, you will partner directly with operational leaders to help build and strengthen the accounting & finance function. This is a high-ownership role focused on creating structure, improving visibility, and establishing finance as a trusted business partner across the organization.

What you’ll do:
Build and Own the Accounting Foundation
Establishing the basics with discipline and ownership:
- Build and lead a structured month-end close process from the ground up
- Build internal accounting capabilities and reduce reliance on external firm support over time
- Own bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
- Implement and maintain WIP / deferred revenue schedules for open construction projects to ensure it is properly reflected on the balance sheet.
- Always maintain audit-ready documentation and organized workpapers
- Maintain compliance with IFRS and corporate accounting policies
Drive Real-Time Project Financial Visibility
- Track and report WIP, job costs, billings, and revenue recognition across active projects
- Partner with operational leaders to ensure job coding and cost allocations are accurate
- Serve as the liaison for group reporting questions on cost overruns, billing gaps, and margin risks
- Build and maintain project-level reporting that gives a clear picture of where each job stands
Introduce Forecasting, Budgeting & Business Partnership
- Build and maintain a monthly forecasting cadence (Sales & EBIT)
- Lead the annual budgeting process, from project pipeline to overhead and labor planning
- Prepare and present management reporting that provides clear visibility for key business decisions
- Communicate financial insights clearly to operational and leadership teams
- Support Group / Corporate consolidation and reporting requirements as needed
Operational Finance & Day-to-Day Support
- Collaborate closely with the owners on billing processes, cash activities, and collections
- Resolve issues early and escalate with context and potential solutions
- Support internal and external audit requirements and year-end close
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from the Finance Director and corporate teams
What you need for success:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of of financial controlling experience in the construction industry
Construction accounting is non-negotiable, you must understand job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion, and project-based revenue recognition
Proficient in QuickBooks
Knowledge in 401k, ADP(payroll taxes, W2, W3, 1099)
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-accountability entrepreneurial environment where priorities can shift quickly
Comfortable in researching and filing state sales tax
Able to build trust and credibility with operational leaders and owners across different working styles and personalities
Confident communicator who can stay composed under pressure, navigate difficult conversations professionally, and drive issues to resolution
Highly proficient in Excel; comfortable learning new ERP and BI tools like Power BI
Pragmatic and solutions-oriented, able to balance structure and control with business realities when building and formalizing processes
Experience supporting internal or external audits
Deadline-disciplined and self-managing
