Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant and Receptionist to join our team in providing exceptional dental care. The ideal candidate will support our dental professionals in delivering high-quality services to our patients, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience. This role requires a combination of clinical expertise and excellent interpersonal skills to assist with various dental procedures and maintain a welcoming environment.
Duties
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up trays, and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
- Take digital dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Maintain accurate medical records, including medical documentation and coding, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans.
- Manage patient flow within the clinic, ensuring timely appointments and effective communication with the dental receptionist.
- Monitor vital signs as necessary during procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Assist with pediatric dentistry tasks, providing compassionate care to younger patients.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Open Dental for patient management and documentation purposes.
- Stay informed about dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques to enhance patient care.
Skills
- Proficiency in using EMR systems (Open Dental) for efficient record keeping.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry and understanding of child-specific dental care needs.
- Familiarity with X-ray technology and medical imaging processes.
- Strong chairside assisting skills with the ability to anticipate the needs of the dentist during procedures.
- Understanding of general dentistry practices as well as specialized areas such as prosthodontics and endodontics.
- Ability to perform infection control measures effectively within a dental clinic environment.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
