Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene.
- Support residents with mobility and transfers using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Maintain detailed care plans, document patient progress, and update records in compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Administer medication as prescribed, following proper procedures for medication administration and documentation.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for residents or clients.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s care), memory care, and hospice care practices.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring tools such as vital signs measurement and patient personal care assistance.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and the use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder, or intellectual disabilities is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
