Job Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing volunteers. This position is crucial to ensuring that the volunteer program is effective, efficient, and supports the goals and objectives of Literacy Delaware. This is an AmeriCorps position for a 10 month term.
Position Description:
- Recruit volunteers; develop and implement recruitment strategies according to best practices
- Keep online recruitment pages up to date and attend in person recruitment events
- Develop and maintain relationships with volunteers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support the organizations mission
- Be first point of contact for all volunteer inquires and create a positive and welcoming environment
- Screen applicants, review volunteer applications, track and complete reference and background checks; ensure compliance
- Support orientation and training as needed
- Collaborate with learner coordinators to make assignments and matches
- Create and implement volunteer engagement and retention strategy
Skills/Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED
· Strong leadership skills to lead and motivate volunteers
· Basic knowledge of volunteer management principles
· Highly organized and an eye for details
· Strong communication and relationship building skills
· Experience working in a nonprofit
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Pay: $11,000.00 per year
