Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic, organized and customer-focused Kids Gym Manager to oversee the daily operations of a boutique children’s gym in NYC. This role blends operations management, customer experience, staff leadership and hands-on program delivery. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring an exceptional experience for families while maintaining a safe, clean and engaging environment for children.The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and families, thrives in a hands-on small business environment and is comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with leading classes and camps on the gym floor.This role also includes overseeing alternative preschool programs, after-school enrichment programs, and holiday and summer camps, with a focus on boosting registration, program quality and client retention.

The Manager will oversee daily facility operations to ensure programs run smoothly, safely, and efficiently, including:
- Opening and closing the facility Monday through Friday
- Coordinating room schedules, program logistics, and space usage between gym, dance, STEM partners, and other vendors
- Maintaining a safe, organized, clean, and welcoming environment throughout the facility, including classrooms, gym areas, lobby, and bathrooms
- Ensuring the space is presentable and ready for children, families, staff, and guests
- Monitoring supplies and notifying Ownership when additional materials are needed
- Assisting with light cleaning responsibilities, including vacuuming and general upkeep
The Manager will serve as a key point of contact for families and will:
- Welcome children, families, caregivers and guests
- Build strong relationships with clients and foster a positive community atmosphere
- Manage daily check-in and check-out procedures
- Answer phone calls, emails and customer inquiries
- Assist families with registrations, memberships, programs and enrollment questions
- Become proficient in registration systems and support in-person registration
- Address customer concerns professionally, thoughtfully and efficiently, escalating matters to Ownership when needed
- Support enrollment growth through excellent customer service and proactive communication
The Manager will support and lead children's programming, including:
- Leading kids gym classes, camps, and Alternative Preschool programming
- Teaching approximately 4-7 (45-minute) multi-sport, movement or tumbling classes per week
- Coordinating After School programming and supporting instructors
- Ensuring programs are safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate
- Helping improve/build out seasonal programming
- Serving as a lead instructor for holiday camps and supporting summer camp operations
- Supporting continued growth of specialty programs, including Prep for Littles, After School, Songs for Littles/music programming, camps, West Side Dance Studio programming, and future initiatives
The Manager will assist with:
- Staff assignments and scheduling
- Event preparation and execution (coordinating client drop offs, etc.)
- Development of special events and community programming
- Partnerships with local businesses, schools, parent groups and neighborhood organizations
- Promotional efforts to increase participation and engagement
Working closely with Ownership, the Manager will:
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding and maintaining a database of contractors/staff
- Help coordinate schedules for classes, camps, parties and special events
- Provide day-to-day guidance, feedback and operational support to staff
- Assist with staff coverage, call outs and substitutions
- Help maintain a positive, collaborative and professional team culture
- Creating and distributing newsletters, emails and family communications
- Supporting social media planning, content creation and posting
- Assisting with seasonal promotions, referral programs, and enrollment campaigns
- Encouraging reviews and referrals from families
- Building relationships with schools, community organizations and neighborhood partners
- Supporting open houses, family events and outreach initiatives
- Assisting Ownership with new program launches and business development projects
- Use registration systems to track attendance and program records
- Managing calendars, schedules, room assignments and program logistics
- Providing recommendations to improve operations and customer experience
- Supporting special projects and future program development initiatives
SCHEDULE
- March 15 – September 15: Monday through Friday
- September 16 – March 14: Four weekdays + one weekend day (specific days to be discussed and mutually agreed upon)
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–4+ years of experience in kids gym management, childcare, education, or hospitality
- Experience working with children and families
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable leading group activities or classes for children
- Ability to work weekends and occasional evenings
- Experience using online tools like Canva, Constant Contact, and social media platforms to create newsletters, marketing materials and promote programs/enrollment
- Flexible and team-focused: willing to do all tasks, from teaching classes to cleaning and administrative work, with a hands-on, no ego attitude
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred:
- Background in early childhood education, youth fitness, gymnastics or recreation
- Experience managing a small team
- Familiarity with scheduling or membership software and comfortable using online systems
- Ability to use email and phones for communication with staff, management and clients
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
