Duties
- Provide personal care assistance, including helping residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe for changes in health status, and communicate findings to healthcare professionals to support accurate care plans.
- Assist with medication administration following HIPAA guidelines to ensure privacy and safety.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and assist residents during meal times to promote proper nutrition.
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care, utilizing specialized techniques for safety and engagement.
- Maintain a clean environment by performing light cleaning tasks and ensuring the safety of the living space in accordance with health standards.
- Document patient observations, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with clients and team members to ensure continuity of care.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Strong knowledge of patient monitoring, medication administration, and vital signs measurement.
- Expertise in dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, hospice care, and supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to assist with ADLs using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and patient personal care techniques.
- Fluency in Spanish to effectively communicate with clients and their families.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent client communication skills combined with compassionate caregiving practices.
- Experience working with individuals who have autism or intellectual disabilities supporting their specific needs.
- Knowledge of home & community care practices including assisted living experience and long-term care procedures.
- Ability to perform CPR and first aid confidently in emergency situations; certification preferred.
- Capable of heavy lifting when necessary while maintaining safety protocols for both caregiver and client safety.
