Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Operate a variety of imaging equipment including X-ray, CT (Computed Tomography), PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scans, mammography, DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scans, sonography, and nuclear medicine procedures.
- Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols during all imaging activities.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to perform diagnostic evaluations accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of imaging procedures, patient information, and technical data for quality assurance and legal compliance.
- Assist in emergency situations within Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers by providing rapid diagnostic imaging support in urgent care or emergency room settings.
- Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and techniques to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in diagnostic radiology with proficiency in X-ray, CT, PET scan, mammography, DEXA scan, sonography, and nuclear medicine procedures.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to radiologic practices.
- Demonstrated ability to perform diagnostic evaluations with precision across various modalities.
- Experience working in emergency room environments or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and radiation safety standards is essential.
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate patient care.
- Certification or licensure as a Radiologic Technologist from an accredited program; additional certifications in nuclear medicine or specialized imaging techniques are a plus.
