Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, materials, and equipment ensuring proper sterilization procedures are followed according to infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery by passing instruments and managing dental supplies efficiently.
- Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and maintaining accurate medical documentation.
- Take vital signs and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient management and ensure clinical confidentiality policies are upheld.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, scheduling appointments using patient management software, and providing excellent customer service as a dental receptionist when needed.
- Maintain dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring all medical records are accurate, complete, and securely stored.
- Support dental sterilization procedures including instrument processing and aseptic technique to uphold the highest standards of infection control.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting.
- Knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient documentation and patient management.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, equipment operation, and clinical procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic technique.
- Ability to accurately perform dental x-ray procedures while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly using medical terminology when necessary.
- Certification in X-ray operation preferred; additional certifications in infection control or healthcare infection prevention are advantageous.
