As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a dynamic Manufacturing Leader to guide us into the future and oversee day-to-day operations at our facility.
Position Overview: This is a hands-on leadership role where you will spend a significant portion of your time—at least 50%—on the shop floor. You will be instrumental in driving manufacturing performance, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your leadership will ensure we maintain our industry leadership while continuously improving efficiencies, safety, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Performance Management:
Establish and lead manufacturing performance objectives across the organization. Oversee the day-to-day operations to ensure production goals are met, and continuously evaluate and improve the performance of manufacturing activities.
- Quality & Efficiency Improvement:
Develop and implement manufacturing standards for workmanship and quality. Establish cost-reduction strategies and performance goals to improve efficiency, safety, and overall manufacturing processes. Utilize continuous improvement tools to drive measurable results.
- Budget & Financial Oversight:
Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage the manufacturing department budget. Track manufacturing costs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Scheduling & Coordination:
Ensure production schedules are met in a timely manner while coordinating with other departments and suppliers to optimize the use of resources, machinery, and labor.
- Strategic Planning & Goal Setting:
Develop annual operating plans that include facility improvements, workforce planning, safety initiatives, and employee engagement strategies. Set clear performance metrics to gauge safety, production, quality, and customer service outcomes.
- Team Communication & Development:
Effectively communicate company goals and expectations related to safety, quality, and performance across all team members. Provide leadership to foster employee development and engagement.
Maintain a strong focus on safety performance, ensuring all manufacturing activities adhere to safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record in manufacturing leadership, process improvement, and driving operational excellence.
- Expertise in budget management, cost reduction strategies, and continuous improvement.
- Strong background in root cause analysis, error-proofing, and corrective actions.
- Extensive experience in manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or welding shops, with hands-on leadership experience.
- Knowledge of metallurgy is a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Experience in re-engineering operations, implementing new strategies, and establishing operational metrics to measure success.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop staff.
