The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of church and parish facilities. This position supports the mission of the parish by ensuring that worship spaces, offices, classrooms, and common areas are clean, orderly, and welcoming for parishioners, staff, and visitors.
- Clean and maintain church buildings, parish hall, offices, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, furniture, and surfaces
- Empty trash and recycling containers and restock supplies
- Set up and arrange tables, chairs, and equipment for Masses, meetings, funerals, weddings, and parish events
- Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance or safety concerns
- Assist with light maintenance duties and minor repairs as needed
- Maintain outdoor walkways and entrances, including snow removal and salting when necessary
- Secure buildings by locking doors and monitoring parish property
- Follow safety procedures and proper use of cleaning products and equipment
- Custodial or cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning supplies safely
- Dependable, organized, and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Respectful and professional interaction with parish staff, volunteers, and parishioners
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate conduct in a church environment
