Litigation Legal Assistant / Paralegal

ABOUT THE ROLE
An established litigation practice is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support a busy docket. This is a substantive, hands-on role for someone who can independently manage deadlines, draft litigation documents, and keep matters moving from intake through resolution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized under pressure, and proficient in the day-to-day mechanics of state and federal litigation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft motions, orders, discovery requests and responses, and related litigation documents for attorney review.
- Own and maintain the litigation docket-independently calendaring hearings, deadlines, and filing dates, and tracking all case events to ensure nothing is missed.
- E-file documents in state and federal courts, including but not limited to eFileTexas and PACER/CM-ECF.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for client communication, providing timely and professional updates.
- Monitor and meet all deadlines, taking responsibility for accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Assist the attorney in preparing for hearings and trials, including organizing exhibits, files, and supporting materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of hands-on litigation experience as a legal assistant or paralegal. (A paralegal certificate is not required; demonstrated proficiency in the tasks above is essential.)
- Proficiency in electronic filing in both state and federal courts is mandatory.
- Proven ability to draft litigation documents-motions, orders, and discovery-with minimal supervision.
- Strong calendaring and docket-management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including direct client contact.
- Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
