Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious, appealing meals and snacks for children, adhering to dietary guidelines and menu plans.
- Assist in menu planning to ensure balanced, age-appropriate meals that meet dietary needs.
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
- Cook using various culinary techniques, including knife skills and food preparation methods suitable for a childcare setting.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and managing waste disposal.
- Perform custodial duties such as cleaning classrooms, restrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces to uphold health standards.
- Ensure the safety and security of the facility by monitoring entry points and maintaining a tidy environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food service within the food industry or restaurant settings.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques.
- Experience with menu planning and meal preparation for groups or children preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in kitchen operations including knife skills and catering experience is a plus.
- Custodial or cleaning experience that emphasizes attention to detail and safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food quality.
