Job Summary
Tampa Bay Autism Center, a private school-based autism program within Tampa Bay Academy, is seeking an Autism Center Coordinator to provide day-to-day leadership and coordination for our autism center. This role blends educational support, program coordination, staff support, family communication, student advocacy, and administrative oversight to help ensure students receive the instruction, services, and support they need in a safe and structured environment.
The Autism Center Coordinator will work closely with teachers, families, outside therapists, school districts, and administration to support implementation of individualized educational plans, maintain student records, assist with evaluations and meetings, provide teacher guidance and training, advocate for students and parents throughout the IEP process, and help strengthen the overall quality, growth, and development of the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the daily operations of the autism center under the direction of leadership
- Support teachers in implementing individualized educational plans, accommodations, and instructional strategies
- Provide feedback, guidance, and training to teachers to help ensure students are receiving appropriate educational instruction
- Monitor student progress and help maintain updated student records and educational documentation
- Coordinate communication with parents, school districts, case managers, and outside providers regarding IEP meetings, updates, and student support needs
- Assist parents and students throughout the IEP process by helping advocate for appropriate services, timely meetings, and updated educational plans
- Work with outside therapists on campus to help align therapeutic goals with classroom support
- Assist with evaluations, parent meetings, observations, and student support planning
- Provide classroom support as needed, including one-on-one support for students and filling in for teachers or assistants when necessary
- Help maintain student safety and supervision throughout the school day
- Support the continued growth, improvement, and development of the autism center by helping identify opportunities that strengthen the program and move it to the next level
- Help develop enrichment opportunities, field trips, community partnerships, and outreach efforts that expand the program and increase its impact
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with children with autism or other special needs required
- Experience in school settings, student support services, special education coordination, or program leadership preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, families, therapists, and administrators
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

- Ability to move throughout classrooms and campus regularly during the workday
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and sit for extended periods
- Ability to supervise, guide, redirect, and physically assist students when necessary
- Ability to respond appropriately to student behaviors, classroom incidents, and safety needs in a special needs educational environment
