EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent or
Graduate of a formal program or
documented on-the-job training and two to three years of greater experience is required.
Experience

JOB DUTIES
Be able to perform all the essential functions of an Operating Room Attendant-Job Code U6221.
Directs, trains, motivates, assigns, and provides information to leadership for annual evaluations of Operating Room Attendant personnel. Handles staffing shortages, staffing complaints, floor assignments, PTO/SICK requests, call sign ups and emergency on-call procedures. Serves as the primary contact for the OR Attendant group. This includes working with leadership to produce daily staffing assignment communication for charge nurses.
Collaborates with leadership to provide personnel functions of interviewing, hiring, as well as guidance and counseling of Operating Room Attendants. Serves as preceptor to new staff and collaborates with leadership in clinical performance evaluations.
Makes daily rounds/audits, to inspect cleanliness of suites and other assigned areas.
Maintains equipment and supplies within the OR Attendant group. Determines specific needs and implements necessary actions to ensure that all available resources are utilized. Works closely with OR Leadership and serves as resource person regarding usage, replacement, purchase, and location of OR Attendant supplies and equipment.
Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer/staff satisfaction. Makes recommendations to leadership on yearly goals.
Maintains a positive working relationship with OR Staff, to ensure efficient utilization of OR Attendants throughout the day.
Serves as professional and technical subject matter expert and resource person. Demonstrates competency to operate OR Attendant related equipment and supplies. Follows established departmental policies and procedures and participates in departmental quality assessment and improvement activities. Performs OR Attendant duties in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality patient care. Prepares and presents OR Attendant orientation, in-services and training programs for all levels of OR staff to ensure continuing education and development of staff in collaboration with the education department and OR leadership.
