Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, assessing condition changes, and reporting findings accurately
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and utilize proper manual handling techniques for safe patient movement
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Document care activities, update resident records, and communicate effectively with team members about patient status and progress
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments
- Strong knowledge of patient observation, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism
- Skilled in patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and first aid/CPR certification
- Familiarity with care plans, HIPAA compliance, manual handling techniques, and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts
- Ability to assist with ADLs efficiently while demonstrating compassion and respect for resident dignity
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities in community or home settings
- Excellent client communication skills to foster trust and understanding with residents and their families
