Position Summary
The Countertop Fabricator is responsible for the precise cutting, shaping, polishing, and finishing of stone materials to produce high-quality countertops. This role requires attention to detail, craftsmanship, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop drawings, templates, and work orders.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as bridge saws, edge polishers, routers, and hand tools.
- Measure, cut, grind, and polish stone materials to specifications.
- Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and finish.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials.
- Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in stone fabrication is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.).
- Comfortable working with power tools and heavy materials.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in a dusty, noisy environment with appropriate PPE.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC machines or digital templating systems.
- Familiarity with materials such as granite, quartz, and marble.
- Forklift certification or experience is a plus.
Safety Expectations
- Always wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
- Follow all machine safety protocols, including proper lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance or blade changes.
- Use dust collection systems and wear respiratory protection when working with materials that generate fine dust (e.g., quartz, granite).
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and communicate clearly when moving heavy materials or operating equipment.
- Report any unsafe conditions, near-misses, or injuries immediately to a supervisor.
- Participate in all required safety training, including forklift certification (if applicable), hazard communication, and emergency response.
- Keep work areas free of tripping hazards, spills, and clutter to prevent accidents.
- Never bypass safety guards or operate equipment without proper training.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts
- Occasional Fridays based on production needs
