Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Contract CAD Designer to assist with mechanical drawings, part layouts, design updates, and documentation. This is a contract position suited for someone who can work independently, understand technical drawings, and produce accurate CAD files for manufacturing and production use.
Strong SolidWorks experience is preferred.
Job Duties
Create and update CAD drawings for mechanical parts, assemblies, and components.
Modify existing drawings based on design changes, measurements, or production needs.
Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with proper dimensions, tolerances, notes, and revision information.
Work from sketches, samples, existing parts, drawings, or verbal instructions.
Assist with reverse engineering of parts when needed.
Review drawings for accuracy, clarity, and manufacturability.
Maintain organized CAD files and drawing records.
Communicate with management and production staff to clarify requirements and resolve drawing questions.
Support small projects on an as-needed contract basis.
Requirements
Proven experience with CAD design.
Strong SolidWorks experience preferred.
Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and basic manufacturing processes.
Ability to work independently and complete projects accurately.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and ask questions when needed.
Must be reliable and able to meet agreed project deadlines.
Experience with precision parts, machined components, optical components, or small mechanical assemblies is a plus.
Preferred Skills
Experience creating 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models.
Familiarity with machining, assembly drawings, sheet metal, or mechanical component design.
Experience with reverse engineering and measuring existing parts.
Knowledge of GD&T is a plus, but not required.

Compensation
Pay will be based on experience, SolidWorks capability, project scope, and ability to work independently.
Pay: $27.00 - $37.00 per hour
