We are seeking an experienced Stainless Steel Food Service CAD Designer to join our team designing custom commercial kitchen equipment and food service fabrication projects. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Autodesk Fusion 360, stainless steel sheet metal design, and commercial food service equipment. This role will work closely with customers, project managers, and fabrication personnel to create detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, flat patterns, and production-ready documentation for custom food service equipment. Similar CAD design roles emphasize 3D modeling, fabrication drawings, BOM creation, manufacturability, and collaboration with production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design custom stainless steel food service equipment using Autodesk Fusion 360.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings for manufacturing.
- Generate sheet metal flat patterns, bend allowances, and CNC-ready files.
- Develop production packages including BOMs, cut lists, DXF files, and assembly drawings.
- Design commercial kitchen equipment such as:
- Exhaust hoods
- Work tables
- Cabinets
- Equipment stands
- Shelving systems
- Sinks and handwash stations
- Serving counters
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and shop personnel to ensure designs meet customer requirements and fabrication capabilities.
- Review field measurements, sketches, and specifications to develop accurate production drawings.
- Support prototype development and resolve manufacturing issues during production.
- Maintain drawing revisions, engineering documentation, and project records.
- Ensure designs comply with food service industry standards, sanitation requirements, and customer specifications. CAD and food service design roles commonly require detailed construction documents, layouts, and coordination with manufacturing teams.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of CAD design experience in sheet metal fabrication, food service equipment, or related manufacturing.
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Fusion 360.
- Strong understanding of stainless steel fabrication methods.
- Experience creating sheet metal parts, flat patterns, and fabrication drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of TIG welding, metal finishing, and fabrication processes.
- Experience generating BOMs, assembly drawings, and production documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing commercial kitchen equipment or food service facilities.
- Knowledge of NSF sanitation standards and food service equipment requirements.
- Familiarity with laser cutting, CNC machining, and press brake operations.
- Understanding of GD&T and manufacturing tolerances.
