Job Summary:
American Asphalt Paving Co., a local road and site construction company located in Shavertown, PA, is seeking a skilled GRADALL OPERATOR.
The Gradall operator will perform tasks such as excavating, grading, lifting, and placing materials for roadwork, utility installation, and site development. The operator will be responsible for precision digging around utilities, slope work, and material handling using the Gradall’s telescoping boom.
The Gradall operator will work on job sites in congested areas with the general-public, pedestrians, vehicles, and other construction equipment, which may limit the movement of the Gradall machine. The operator must remain alert and have a keen awareness of their surroundings.
Requirements:
- Must be able to safely and efficiently operate a Gradall excavator to perform fine grading, trenching, ditching, and slope work on various construction projects such as roads, parking lots, site work and building pads.
- Ability to read and interpret grade stakes, plans, and blueprints.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment including lubricating, inspecting, and cleaning to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Maintain accurate records of operating hours and maintenance performed.
- Ability and willingness to operate other pieces of heavy equipment and/or perform physical laborer duties when not operating the Gradall.
- Employees must be willing and available to work overtime, including weekends and occasional night work.
- Performs all work according to OSHA and American Asphalt safety policies.
- Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test, and be willing to submit to, and pass, random drug/alcohol testing thereafter.
Skills and Experience:
- Must have experience operating a Gradall excavator with telescoping boom. Prefer candidates who have at least 2-3 years’ experience in the road construction industry operating a Gradall to excavate, grade and level materials.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, and ability to follow safety procedures.
- Working knowledge of excavation, grades and granular related materials.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Performs all work according to OSHA and American Asphalt safety policies.
