Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual for the position of a groundman. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in heavy equipment operation and construction site experience. This role involves working with various types of machinery and tools to ensure efficient project completion while adhering to safety standards.
Duties
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Lift, drag, or carry heavy loads (branches, logs, equipment).
- Stand, walk, and bend for long periods.
Skills and Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of tree species and cutting techniques (a plus).
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Safety-conscious attitude (knowledge of PPE and safe work practices).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Support tree climbers by handling tools, ropes, and equipment.
- Communicate with climbers to ensure smooth workflow and safety.
Debris Handling and Cleanup
- Gather, drag, and load branches and brush.
- Rake, blow, and clear job sites of debris after tree work.
- Load logs, brush, and wood into trucks or trailers.
Operate Equipment
- Safely operate chainsaws, wood chippers, stump grinders, and other tools.
- Maintain and inspect tools and machinery for proper working condition.
Rigging and Rope Work
- Set up ropes, pulleys, and rigging systems for lowering branches and logs.
- Manage rope lines from the ground during pruning or removals.
Traffic and Site Safety
- Set up cones, warning signs, and barriers around the job site.
- Help maintain a safe working area for crew and public.
Truck and Tool Maintenance
- Clean, organize, and restock trucks and equipment at the end of each job.
- Perform minor maintenance on tools (e.g., sharpening chainsaws, fueling equipment).
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
