Position Summary: The Project Accountant is responsible for financial oversight at the project level, with primary ownership of forecasted cost and budget integrity across assigned projects. This role partners directly with Project Managers (PMs) to develop, validate, and monitor cost forecasts on a monthly basis, while also acting as a financial control checkpoint to ensure disciplined budget adherence. The position sits at the intersection of project execution and finance, providing structured cost visibility, enforcing budget controls, and improving project-level financial predictability.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Setup & Financial Administration

Own and operate accounting functions for assigned construction projects. Complete setup of projects within Sage, including project structures, cost codes, and related accounting setup requirements.

Add and maintain additional cost codes as needed throughout the project lifecycle.

Confirm proper project setup and functionality within Procore.

Support commitment setup and administration within Procore.

Assist in identifying when change orders are required due to incomplete, inaccurate, or insufficient commitments.
Accounts Payable & Invoice Processing

Receive invoices and process them through the full workflow within Procore and Sage, from receipt through posting.

Resolve failed invoice pushes and system integration issues between Procore and Sage.

Administer lien waiver collection, tracking, and organization for assigned projects.

Support adoption and administration of Procore Pay processes where applicable.
Project Cost Control & Forecasting

Maintain ownership of project-level A/P accrual workpapers for assigned projects.

Partner directly with Project Managers to develop, review, validate, and monitor monthly project cost forecasts.

Prepare monthly project analyses to confirm billing goals, revenue targets, and financial objectives are achieved.

Follow through with Project Managers and operations personnel regarding outstanding financial information or project documentation.
Compliance & Reporting

Review and process certified subcontractor payroll documentation for compliance and completeness.
- Ensure project financial records are maintained in accordance with company standards and audit requirements.

Assist with internal and external audit requests related to project financial activity.

Maintain strong communication and coordination with other members of the Project Accounting and Finance teams.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field (or demonstrated proven equivalent experience)

Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or related accounting and finance roles.

Microsoft Office Suite

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate /SAGE INTACT preferred
