Barista
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week
Harpoon Hanna’s is an independent, community-focused coffee shop in New Rochelle. We’re looking for a dependable, personable, and hardworking barista who takes pride in creating excellent drinks and making every customer feel welcome.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, works well with a team, and understands that great hospitality includes everything from remembering a regular customer’s order to keeping the café clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, teas, refreshers, and other menu items according to our recipes and standards
- Provide friendly, attentive, and efficient customer service
- Operate the POS system and accurately process transactions
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the café, including counters, equipment, tables, floors, and service areas
- Restock cups, ingredients, supplies, and merchandise
- Follow food-safety, sanitation, and opening/closing procedures
- Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining drink quality
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and management
- Complete assigned side work without needing constant supervision
- Help create a welcoming, positive atmosphere for customers and coworkers
What We’re Looking For
- Prior barista, café, restaurant, or customer-service experience is preferred
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to work when scheduled
- Friendly and confident when interacting with customers
- Able to accept feedback and follow established recipes and procedures
- Strong attention to cleanliness, consistency, and presentation
- Comfortable taking initiative and staying productive during slower periods
- Able to remain calm and organized during busy rushes
- Available for approximately 30 hours per week, including some weekends
- Able to stand for extended periods and safely lift approximately 30 pounds
