Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine individual needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Manage complex procedures such as IV infusions, catheterizations, suturing, and tube feeding with precision and confidence.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly using electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and update personalized care plans aligned with patient goals.
- Provide patient education on health management, medication administration, pain control strategies, and discharge instructions.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies such as acute pain episodes or trauma situations utilizing critical care response procedures in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse settings including hospital medicine, ICU, emergency room, pediatrics, geriatrics, or behavioral health environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and laboratory result interpretation.
- Skilled in performing diagnostic evaluations such as sonography or laboratory specimen collection/processing.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner or eClinicalWorks for efficient documentation and patient data management.
- Expertise in specialized procedures including cardiology catheterization, dialysis management, ostomy care, neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), or gastrostomy tube management.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays across settings like assisted living or memory care facilities.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments in urgent care or outpatient clinics; capable of providing health coaching and family planning guidance when needed.
