Client Relations Director
Position Summary
The Client Relations Director is responsible for overseeing the Network Office's Client Relations Center (CRC) and ensuring the financial security and service needs of the unassigned client population are met. This role manages CRC operations, client engagement activities, lead generation efforts, and financial representative support to deliver a consistent and positive client experience.
The Client Relations Director serves as the primary coordinator of the CRC's day-to-day activities, working closely with financial representatives, office leadership, and operational teams to maintain client relationships, facilitate client transitions, generate opportunities, and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Business Operations
- Oversees the activities of financial representatives participating in the CRC.
- Assists in establishing and communicating CRC goals, expectations, and priorities.
- Supports accountability meetings with financial representatives and tracks team progress.
- Monitors production and activity metrics, including:
- Leads generated
- Client outreach activity
- Appointments scheduled and kept
- Cases opened
- Sales production results
- Coordinates CRC meetings, training opportunities, and communications.
- Partners with network office leadership to support CRC initiatives and client engagement efforts.
- Maintains reporting and operational processes to ensure efficient CRC performance.
- Assists in identifying process improvement opportunities that enhance client service and operational effectiveness.
Client Management
- Maintains the accuracy and integrity of unassigned client data.
- Oversees client assignment and sharing processes with financial representatives.
- Provides support for planned and unplanned financial representative transitions.
- Manages client transition activities to ensure continuity of service.
- Handles incoming service requests related to Northwestern Mutual products in accordance with established service standards.
- Responds to regulatory and compliance-related requirements.
- Ensures clients receive timely communication and service support.
- Monitors client engagement activities and identifies opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
Lead Generation & Relationship Development
- Proactively reconnects with unassigned clients through outreach programs and service initiatives.
- Researches clients to identify planning, service, and sales opportunities.
- Identifies clients who may be a fit for assignment to financial representatives.
- Shares and manages client opportunities with financial representatives.
- Tracks and reports lead-generation activity and outcomes.
- Supports marketing and client communication initiatives designed to increase client engagement.
- Encourages consistent follow-up activities to strengthen client relationships and uncover planning needs.
Planning & Collaboration
- Supports the development and execution of CRC business plans and objectives.
- Assists in implementing strategies that align with the network office's goals and vision.
- Collaborates with office leadership to improve client experiences and operational effectiveness.
- Partners with operations and service teams to ensure appropriate support for CRC clients.
- Contributes ideas and recommendations for improving client engagement, retention, and growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Finance experience preferred.
- Associate Financial Representative (AFR) Contract preferred
- Long-Term Care (LTC) approval preferred
- NMIS registration preferred based on territory needs.
- Life, Health (DI), Variable products, and related licensing preferred based on business requirements.
- Minimum of 2 years of Northwestern Mutual experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications:
- Word
- Excel (filters, pivots, reporting)

Pay: $51,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
