Position Summary
The Compliance Specialist will play an important role in supporting the Compliance Department and helping ensure Stratus is prepared to operate successfully across jurisdictions throughout the country. This position provides administrative and operational support related to licensing, regulatory filings, and other compliance initiatives.
In this role, you’ll prepare and submit license applications, track application statuses and regulatory requirements, maintain compliance documentation, and communicate directly with municipalities, government agencies, law enforcement departments, and licensing authorities regarding requirements and approvals. You’ll also support employee compliance processes, including fingerprinting and background check tracking, record maintenance, and ensuring required documentation remains complete and up to date.
The Compliance Specialist may also conduct research into state and local regulations to support licensing requirements and identify changes that could impact company operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and confident communicating professionally with both internal teams and external regulatory contacts.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Compliance with event licensing and regulatory research.
- Communicate professionally with city, county, and state agencies and law enforcement departments across the U.S. by phone and email to obtain licensing and compliance information.
- Prepare, complete, and submit licensing applications and supporting documentation accurately and thoroughly.
- Track licensing applications, approvals, renewals, expiration dates, and outstanding requirements to ensure timely completion.
- Collect and maintain applicable sensitive employee, buyer, and company information and documentation.
- Assist the Director of Compliance in ensuring all Stratus/Legacy events are properly licensed prior to the start of each event.
- Help inform staff of event requirements, including reporting requirements, hold times, equipment requirements, and other licensing-related requirements.
- Maintain organized records of licenses, permits, applications, government correspondence, and other compliance documentation.
- Assist with identifying and documenting jurisdiction-specific requirements and changes in applicable laws or regulations.
- Assist with other compliance-related projects, research, and administrative tasks identified by the Director of Compliance.
Qualifications
Required
- 1+ years of experience in compliance, licensing, regulatory affairs, legal administration, government administration, or Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, legal studies, public administration, criminal justice.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing applications and maintaining records.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
- Experience communicating with government agencies or law enforcement.
- Experience completing business licenses, permits, registrations, or other regulatory applications.
- Familiarity with researching statutes, ordinances, regulations, and administrative requirements.
