Job Summary
Port Matilda EMS is seeking a dedicated and community-focused EMS Captain to lead our rural emergency medical service and continue our tradition of compassionate, patient-centered care. This position is far more than managing ambulances and schedules—it is an opportunity to become a trusted leader, mentor, advocate, and public face of EMS within the communities we serve.
Serving the Borough of Port Matilda and surrounding rural townships, the Captain is responsible for the daily operations of a growing EMS organization that provides emergency response, community outreach, public education, and non-emergency transportation services. The successful candidate will lead a team of EMTs, drivers, volunteers, and support staff while fostering a culture of professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and service.
The Captain will oversee staffing, scheduling, training, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, fleet readiness, community relations, and employee development. Equally important, the Captain will build relationships with residents, local government officials, healthcare partners, schools, businesses, and first responders to ensure that Port Matilda EMS remains an integral part of the community.
We are looking for a leader who understands that rural EMS is about neighbors helping neighbors. Someone who values personal connections, believes in mentoring the next generation of providers, and recognizes that every patient interaction reflects the reputation and mission of the organization.
