As our Print & Design Specialist, you will play a key role in one of the company's most important profit centers. You will be responsible for supporting print revenue growth, creating and preparing customer designs, delivering exceptional print quality, creating outstanding customer experiences, and continuously improving our print operations.
This role combines design, sales, customer service, business development, marketing, print production, and quality control.
What You'll Do Print & Design
- Create, edit, and prepare customer artwork for print production.
- Assist customers with layouts, design concepts, file setup, sizing, and print-ready artwork.
- Use Adobe Creative Suite to prepare and modify files for a variety of print products.
- Review customer-provided artwork for resolution, bleed, sizing, color, and other production requirements.
- Produce professional designs that meet customer expectations and production standards.
- Help customers select the best print products, materials, finishes, and design options for their needs.
Grow Print Sales & Develop New Business
- Prospect for and acquire new print customers through networking, referrals, community outreach, and relationship building.
- Build long-term relationships with local businesses, organizations, schools, churches, and community partners.
- Follow up with customers to generate repeat business and strengthen relationships.
- Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional print products and services.
- Promote print services to existing mailbox customers and retail customers.
- Help turn print estimates and inquiries into completed sales.
Promote Our Print Services
- Maintain an attractive, organized, and up-to-date Print Wall showcasing products, promotions, samples, and capabilities.
- Support social media, promotional campaigns, and other print marketing initiatives.
- Attend networking meetings, Chamber events, business expos, and community events as needed.
- Identify new ways to increase awareness of our print products and services throughout the communities we serve.
Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience
- Respond promptly and professionally to print inquiries by phone, email, website, and in person.
- Provide accurate estimates and realistic production timelines.
- Communicate proactively with customers throughout the design and production process.
- Recommend solutions based on each customer's goals, budget, timeline, and project needs.
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
Produce High-Quality Print Work
- Produce print products accurately, efficiently, and professionally.
- Review completed jobs before pickup or delivery to ensure they meet company quality standards.
- Ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain consistent quality across both simple and complex print projects.
- Minimize errors, reprints, and unnecessary material waste.
Improve Print Operations
- Improve turnaround times without sacrificing quality.
- Monitor production costs and identify opportunities to reduce waste.
- Maintain print inventory and equipment.
- Recommend operational improvements that increase efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Support the development and maintenance of print-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
What We're Looking ForQualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift approximately 50–75 lbs. when needed.
- Previous print shop, commercial printing, or print production experience preferred.
- Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Successful candidates should have:
- Print production knowledge or the ability and desire to quickly master commercial print products, services, and equipment.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, preferred.
- Strong graphic design and file preparation skills.
- Strong sales and consultative selling skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Comfort using computers, design software, print equipment, and production technology.
Availability
Candidates should have availability during our standard operating hours:
Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM EST
Saturday–Sunday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM EST
The position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when business needs require.
