POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate financial records for Low-Income Public Housing (LIPH) and related programs, and supporting compliance with HUD regulations. This role integrates bookkeeping, tenant accounting, and financial operations using Yardi and Rent Café systems.
POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION
This position reports to the Finance Manager and works closely with Public Housing and HCV staff.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Process accounts payable weekly and ensure timely vendor payments.
- Assign and verify account coding for invoices.
- Maintain tenant accounts including rent, charges, and adjustments.
- Process move-ins, move-outs, and rent changes in Yardi.
- Manage rent collection through Rent Café and reconcile deposits.
- Monitor payment agreements and tenant balances.
- Respond to tenant and staff inquiries regarding accounts.
- Prepare and distribute notices such as late fees and correspondence.
- Reconcile HCV accounts receivable including fraud and ports.
- Reconcile all assigned accounts monthly.
- Maintain bank statements and financial records.
- Prepare reports for board packets and HUD reporting.
- Track utility reimbursements and occupancy reporting.
- Assist with budgeting and ensure compliance.
- Maintain vendor contracts and 1099 preparation.
- Support audit preparation and financial reporting.
- Assist with transition and system management in Yardi.
- Ensure internal controls are followed.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOW HOW
- Strong accounting and math skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software, especially Yardi.
- Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable.
- Understanding or ability to learn fund accounting and HUD requirements.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.

REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Experience in public housing or government accounting preferred.
- Strong computer and Excel skills.
- Valid Indiana driver’s license.
