Location: Long Island City, Queens
Schedule: 2 hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4 hour per week (afternoon)
Pay: $60/hour
Position Overview
The instructor will lead engaging, age-appropriate culinary lessons for students in a classroom-based setting. This is a hands-on enrichment program focused on basic cooking skills, nutrition awareness, teamwork, and kitchen safety.
This is a pilot program with strong potential for continued opportunities based on performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead 5 structured Culinary sessions over 3 weeks
- Create simple, classroom-safe recipes (no open flame unless approved)
- Teach kitchen safety and food handling basics
- Manage materials and maintain a clean workspace
- Foster a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Communicate professionally with school staff and KAFFA leadership
Qualifications
- Experience teaching culinary arts, cooking, or food-based enrichment to youth
- Classroom management experience (afterschool or school-based preferred)
- Strong communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Background check required
Preferred
- NYC DOE fingerprinting clearance
- Food Handler’s Certificate
- Experience working in school settings
Compensation
- $60 per hour
