The Goddard School in Independence, OH is looking for a nurturing, dependable, and experienced Full-Time Infant Teacher to join our Infant classroom, caring for children ages 6 weeks to 12 months.
This position is ideal for someone who truly enjoys working with babies and understands the importance of safety, consistency, communication, and gentle care during the first year of life. Infant teachers play such an important role in helping our youngest children feel safe, loved, and supported while also building strong partnerships with families.
We are looking for someone who is patient, attentive, organized, and confident caring for infants in a licensed childcare setting.
Schedule
Full-Time:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Candidates must be available through closing time to support end-of-day classroom routines, family pick-up, and proper ratio coverage.
Responsibilities
The Infant Teacher will help:
- Provide loving, attentive care for infants ages 6 weeks to 12 months
- Follow each child’s individual feeding, sleeping, and diapering schedule
- Maintain a safe, clean, and calm infant classroom environment
- Follow safe sleep practices at all times
- Prepare and give bottles according to family instructions and school policy
- Change diapers and maintain accurate daily care records
- Support tummy time, sensory exploration, music, reading, and age-appropriate infant activities
- Comfort, hold, soothe, and engage infants throughout the day
- Communicate professionally with families about their child’s day
- Work closely with co-teachers to keep the classroom organized and running smoothly
- Follow Ohio childcare licensing rules, health and safety procedures, and school policies
- Maintain cleanliness of toys, cribs, classroom materials, and feeding areas
- Observe and support each infant’s growth, routines, and developmental milestones
What We’re Looking For
Qualified candidates must have:
- At least 1 year of experience working in a licensed childcare center
- Experience caring for infants preferred
- A strong understanding of safe sleep, supervision, feeding, diapering, and infant routines
- Dependability and strong attendance
- A calm, patient, and nurturing personality
- The ability to communicate clearly with families and coworkers
- Comfort working as part of a teaching team
- The ability to lift, hold, and care for infants throughout the day
- Willingness to follow licensing rules, classroom procedures, and school expectations
- A professional, kind, and team-focused attitude
Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour
