Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and medication management for pain control or chronic conditions.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and sterile specimen collection while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patients’ physiological responses during treatments like ventilator management or cardiac catheterization, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans for patients with complex needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or acute trauma cases.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards like ICD-10 or ICD-9.
- Provide education and support to patients and families on health coaching topics including medication administration, nutrition, discharge planning, or hospice care.
Skills
- Proven experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Critical care experience in settings like ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs measurement and physical examinations.
- Expertise in specialized areas such as Alzheimer's care, memory care, behavioral health, or pediatric nursing including neonatal ventilator management.
- Proficiency in IV insertion, phlebotomy, injection administration, catheter care, and sterile processing procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring home & community care services.
