Minimum Hiring Salary: $41,600.00 - $43,922.00 Full Salary Range: $41,600.00 - $59,734.00 Annually

About the Department:
The Water Resources Department provides essential water and wastewater services to the Greensboro community. Our Operations teams maintain the City's water distribution and sewer collection systems, responding to routine maintenance needs as well as emergencies. This work helps protect public health, preserve infrastructure, and ensure reliable service for residents and businesses.

About the Role:
As a Crew Member (Hydro Helper), you will assist the Hydro Operator with water and sewer maintenance activities and provide critical support during daily operations and emergency situations.
Key responsibilities include:

Assisting with water distribution and sewer collection system maintenance activities.

Serving as a backup Hydro Truck operator when the primary operator is unavailable.

Applying safe work practices related to confined space entry and traffic control.

Using water and sewer maps to locate and support maintenance activities.
-
Following verbal and written instructions and established safety procedures.
-
Preparing and compiling accurate maintenance activity reports.

Handling and transporting heavy tools, equipment, and materials needed for field operations.

Supporting the crew during routine and emergency maintenance activities.

Participating in a regular on-call rotation to help respond to after-hours operational needs.

Position is Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working in the field, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions and accurately document work are essential.
