Position Summary
JHB Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to lead electrical production operations for custom trailers and specialty mobile units. This role is responsible for overseeing electrical installations, managing production staff, maintaining quality and safety standards, and ensuring projects move efficiently through production.
We are looking for a hands-on leader with strong electrical troubleshooting abilities, production experience, and the ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects at once. The ideal candidate is comfortable both leading a team and actively participating in electrical installation and troubleshooting work on the production floor.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Electrical Department team
- Plan daily workload, labor allocation, and production priorities
- Coordinate with production management to maintain project schedules and communicate delays or roadblocks
- Ensure materials, drawings, tools, and components are prepared before work begins
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems in trailers, specialty vehicles, and mobile units
- Route, terminate, and test electrical wiring and low-voltage systems including:
- 110V AC systems
- 12V DC systems
- Vehicle wiring systems
- Cat5/Cat6 networking
- Coax cabling
- Low-voltage and communication systems
- Install and configure:
- Emergency vehicle lighting and equipment
- Batteries
- Inverters
- Solar controllers
- Outlets and receptacles
- Network racks and data systems
- Diagnose electrical failures and develop effective repair solutions
- Verify all electrical systems are installed correctly, tested, and fully operational
- Maintain electrical quality standards, shop safety, and code compliance
- Support continuous improvement of shop processes, organization, and production efficiency
- Safely operate electrical and pneumatic tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Assist with production support, inventory movement, loading, and general shop operations as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on electrical experience
- Leadership or management experience in a production, construction, manufacturing, marine, trailer, automotive, or emergency vehicle environment preferred
- Strong understanding of:
- 110V and 12V electrical systems
- Vehicle wiring and electrical integration
- Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Low-voltage and network wiring systems
- Experience with emergency vehicle upfitting, automotive accessory installation, police/emergency vehicle equipment, or specialty vehicle electrical systems strongly preferred
- Ability to read electrical diagrams, drawings, and production documentation
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working in both leadership and hands-on production roles
Preferred Experience
- Trailer or mobile unit manufacturing
- Police, fire, EMS, or emergency vehicle technician experience
- Automotive installer or emergency vehicle upfitter experience
- Marine or RV electrical systems
- Solar and inverter systems
- Network/data installation
- Production or fabrication environments
