Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Inc. (GLFHC) is a multi-site, mission-driven, non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to a culturally diverse population throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites in Lawrence, Methuen, and Haverhill and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.
GLFHC is currently seeking a Senior Data Architect to join our team. Under the direction of the AVP of Information Services, the Senior Data Architect plays a key role in designing, maintaining, and advancing Greater Lawrence Family Health Center’s enterprise data warehouse and analytics environment. This position is responsible for ensuring that clinical, operational, financial, and regulatory data is structured, reliable, secure, and accessible to support decision‑making and required reporting for internal leadership as well as federal, state, and local agencies. The Senior Data Architect works collaboratively as a member of the Information Services team and the broader Health Center team, partnering closely with the Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, Applications, Clinical Informatics, Finance, and Operations teams. This role provides technical leadership, establishes data architecture standards, and ensures the integrity, performance, and sustainability of GLFHC’s data assets in support of the Health Center’s mission to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
Data Architecture & Warehouse Design
- Design, document, and maintain the enterprise data warehouse architecture, including data models, schemas, and data integration patterns.
- Ensure data architecture supports reporting needs across clinical quality, UDS, population health, operations, finance, and grants management.
- Develop and enforce standards for data modeling, naming conventions, and architectural best practices to promote consistency and long‑term maintainability.
- Evaluate existing data structures and recommend improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability.
Data Integration & Technical Leadership
- Work closely with the Data Warehouse team to design, support, and optimize ETL/ELT processes from source systems such as EMR/PM, HR, finance, and external data sources.
- Partner with Applications and Infrastructure teams to analyze system changes, software releases, and upgrades to ensure continued accuracy and availability of warehouse data.
- Support automation, scheduling, and monitoring of data loads to ensure timely and dependable data delivery.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex data issues, including root‑cause analysis for data quality or performance concerns.
Data Governance, Quality & Compliance
- Support enforcement of data governance standards, including data definitions, ownership, lineage, and documentation.
- Establish and maintain data quality validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reporting data.
- Ensure data warehouse design and usage comply with HIPAA, GLFHC security policies, and privacy requirements.
- Assist with audits, grant reporting, and regulatory reviews by ensuring data is well‑documented, traceable, and reliable.
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as a senior technical resource and liaison between Information Services, clinical teams, operations, finance, and leadership.
- Translate business and clinical reporting needs into clear technical requirements and data models.
- Provide guidance and oversight to BI developers, analysts, and report writers to ensure appropriate and consistent use of warehouse data.
- Participate in cross‑functional planning and prioritization discussions related to data, reporting, and analytics initiatives.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Act as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence staff.
- Review and provide feedback on data models, queries, and reporting solutions to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of the Health Center’s data and analytics roadmap.
- Stay current with healthcare data, analytics, and warehouse trends and recommend practical improvements aligned with GLFHC needs.
Qualifications:
- Five (5)+ years’ experience in data architecture, data warehousing, or advanced analytics roles, preferably in healthcare or a similarly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise reporting and analytics platforms.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and data warehouse technologies (e.g., SQL Server and related platforms).
- Advanced understanding of data modeling concepts and reporting structures.
- Experience working with healthcare data and EMR/PM source systems.
- Proficiency with SQL and familiarity with reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience working in an FQHC or community health center environment preferred
- Familiarity with UDS reporting, clinical quality measures, and population health analytics preferred.
- Experience with cloud‑based data platforms and modern analytics architectures preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a health care setting preferred.
