We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice to support Operations & Maintenance Services at a Federal Facility in Laurel, MD. This individual will assist technicians, electricians, and mechanics in the performance of their work duties while acquiring the skills & knowledge, and completing the training required to obtain licenses. Candidate should have general building maintenance knowledge in a variety of craft trades to support mechanical and electrical heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning machinery. Key Responsibilities
You will be doing a lot of different things day to day, generally in support of other trades, including but not limited to the following:

Inspect HVAC, electrical, plumbing or energy management systems under the direction and supervision of a Journeyman.

Assist Journeymen in the performance of installing or repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing or energy management systems.

Perform simple installations, diagnoses or repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing or energy management systems under the direction of a Journeyman.

Run wiring, cabling, ductwork, and mount equipment according to specifications and schematics provided by engineering work orders.

Place or remove equipment and building products and apply coatings to walls and ceilings as directed by a Journeyman.

Perform minor touch-up painting chores consistent with preventive maintenance functions and minor repair

Operate a forklift or man lift, as needed

Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs of all equipment and systems outlined in the Employer's contract with the Government.

Performing other duties as required or directed by management.
Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance.

High School Diploma

Ability to read blueprints
-
Reliable transportation

Able to lift up to sixty (60) pounds

Capable of climbing ladders up to a height of thirty (30) feet

Candidates must be US Citizens and have the ability to obtain and maintain a government background investigation. Having an existing background investigation (HSPD-12 clearance) is highly desirable
