JOB Assists in the fabrication of traffic signs and the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and a variety of pavement markings; and performs other related duties as required.
There is one (1) immediate permanent full-time vacancy with the Department of Public Works - Traffic Division in Kailua-Kona.
The eligible list may be used for other permanent and temporary vacancies as they arise during the life of the list. Temporary appointment may lead to conversion to permanent appointment.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday; 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Assists in painting pavement markings by setting traffic cones on freshly painted lines to keep traffic from smearing paint.
- Assists in the application of various thermoplastic materials and raised pavement markers; performs other duties related to pavement markings.
- Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs.
- Assists the painters by removing the old reflective sheeting and sanding, filing, and cleaning the plates for application of new reflective sheeting.
- Assists in sign fabrication by screen process method or electro-cut applications.
- Weeds electro-cut vinyl and applies transfer tape to signage; applies signage to reflective sheeted sign plates.
- Assists in the maintenance of all vehicles and pavement markings and sign maintenance equipment.
- Follows all safety laws, policies, and rules related to the traffic signs and markings operation.
- Operates vehicle to transport equipment, supplies, and employees to worksite.
- Performs other related duties as required.
