Position Summary
Gideon Safety is seeking an experienced and motivated HSE Field Supervisor to oversee health, safety, and environmental activities at client and field locations. The HSE Field Supervisor will provide hands-on safety leadership, ensure compliance with applicable OSHA and company requirements, and support employees and clients in maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to lead safety efforts in an active field environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily HSE leadership and support at assigned job sites.
- Conduct field safety observations, inspections, and audits.
- Identify hazards and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, client requirements, and site-specific procedures.
- Conduct and/or assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and risk assessments.
- Verify employees are following safe work practices, required PPE, and established procedures.
- Lead or participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-job meetings.
- Support incident, near-miss, and injury investigations.
- Document safety observations, inspections, incidents, corrective actions, and other HSE activities.
- Assist with emergency response planning and ensure employees understand emergency procedures.
- Monitor permit-required activities and verify required controls are in place.
- Support confined space, hot work, line breaking, LOTO, excavation, and other high-risk activities as applicable.
- Coordinate with client representatives, supervisors, contractors, and field personnel regarding HSE requirements.
- Stop work when an imminent or unacceptable safety hazard is identified and communicate corrective actions to affected personnel.
- Assist with employee orientation, site-specific training, and HSE training.
- Monitor environmental requirements and report spills, releases, or other environmental concerns.
- Maintain accurate and timely HSE records and reports.
- Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, communication, and field engagement.
- Perform other HSE duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an HSE, safety, or field supervision role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and general industrial safety practices.
- Experience working in industrial, oil and gas, construction, midstream, or similar field environments preferred.
- Ability to recognize hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Ability to communicate professionally with employees, supervisors, clients, and contractors.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.
- Ability to travel and work extended hours or varying schedules as required by project needs.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-Hour certification.
- H2S certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Confined Space Entry/Rescue training.
- Authorized or Qualified Person training, as applicable.
- Experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with safety management systems and electronic HSE reporting.
- Experience working directly with clients and contractors.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors and in industrial environments.
- Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, and navigate uneven or industrial work areas.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment, vehicles, elevated work areas, and other industrial hazards.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be willing to travel and work schedules based on project and client requirements.
