Automatic Building Controls, Inc. / FIX Consulting, LLC has been a building automation contractor and systems integration consultant specializing in enterprise solutions, LEED (sustainability), Commissioning, and service since 1976. We consult and support our customers in the ever-changing world of building automation and controls. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll records, resolving discrepancies, and supporting cross-functional teams with payroll-related matters. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and a solid understanding of payroll systems and labor laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle payroll on a biweekly/semi-monthly/monthly basis for salaried and hourly employees.
- Maintain and update payroll records, employee information, and deductions in the payroll system.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, benefits, bonuses, and taxes in compliance with relevant laws.
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure proper integration of payroll data and benefits.
- Prepare payroll reports for internal stakeholders, audits, and government agencies as required.
- Assist with year-end processes including W-2s, tax filings, and audits.
- Stay updated on changes to payroll regulations, tax laws, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of payroll processing experience (multi-state preferred).
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday, Paychex, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, HR, or related field (preferred).
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.
