Duties
- Safely operate a box truck to deliver goods along assigned routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using manual handling techniques, pallet jacks, or forklifts as needed
- Ensure accurate delivery by verifying orders against delivery manifests and obtaining signatures upon receipt
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging professionally with clients during deliveries and addressing any questions or concerns
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety and proper functioning of the truck
- Maintain detailed logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents or delays encountered during routes
- Assist with warehouse activities such as inventory management, loading supplies, and organizing stock when not on route
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, courier, or in a similar route-driving role with a focus on customer service
- Strong driving skills with experience operating box trucks or commercial vehicles with manual transmissions
- Knowledge of warehouse operations including heavy lifting, moving items, and using equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with customers and team members
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy packages repeatedly throughout shifts
- Familiarity with route planning, navigation tools, and time management to ensure punctual deliveries
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for commercial driving; CDL license is a plus but not mandatory depending on the truck size
