BCBA — $85,000–$95,000
Family Tree ABA is a small, locally owned ABA practice in Collierville, Tennessee. We aren't part of a national chain, we aren't backed by private equity, and there isn't a corporate office somewhere making decisions about how you should do your job.
Our owner and Clinical Director is a BCBA with approximately 30 years of experience working across multiple populations, settings, and areas of behavioral practice. His professional experience has included serving as President of the Tennessee Association for Behavior Analysis (TABA) and five years of service on Tennessee's behavior analyst licensing board. He has practiced in this community for years and has called Collierville home for nearly 15 years.
Family Tree has been built here, one family and one employee at a time.
We're looking for an experienced BCBA who wants something a little different from the increasingly corporate world of ABA.
What You Can Expect From Us
- Small and local. The people making decisions about the company are the same people working beside you every day. There isn't a regional director, corporate office, or ownership group several states away.
- Experienced clinical leadership. You'll work directly with a Clinical Director who has spent approximately three decades practicing behavior analysis across different populations and settings. If you have a difficult case, an ethical question, a clinical problem, or simply want another experienced BCBA to bounce an idea off of, that resource is down the hall—not on an organizational chart somewhere.
- Autonomy without abandonment. If you're a competent BCBA, we want you to use your clinical judgment. We're available when you need help, but we're not interested in micromanaging good clinicians.
- Reasonable caseloads. We want you to actually know your clients, supervise your RBTs well, communicate with families, and have enough time to practice behavior analysis rather than simply manage a caseload.
- No corporate theater. We care about good clinical work, reliable documentation, communication, and taking care of families. We aren't interested in endless meetings, committees, initiatives, productivity exercises, or paperwork created simply to prove that someone is managing you.
- A relaxed working environment. We're professional without being stuffy. You don't need to dress like you're going to a board meeting, and nobody is going to hover over your shoulder because you took ten minutes to get a cup of coffee.
- Direct communication. If there's a problem, we'll talk about it. If you need something, come talk to us. If you have an idea that would make something better, we want to hear it. Small companies should be able to make decisions without six meetings and twelve emails.
- Competitive compensation. Salary range is $85,000–$95,000, depending on experience and fit.
What We Expect From You
The tradeoff for a relaxed environment, professional autonomy, and not having someone constantly looking over your shoulder is pretty simple:
We expect you to handle your responsibilities.
That means:
- Show up. Your clients, families, RBTs, and coworkers need to be able to depend on you.
- Complete your documentation. Notes, treatment plans, assessments, authorization materials, and other required documentation need to be accurate and completed on time.
- Manage your caseload. Know what's happening with your clients. Know what your RBTs are working on. Know when authorizations, assessments, parent training, programming changes, or other clinical needs require attention.
- Supervise your RBTs. We don't view supervision as checking a box. Your technicians should know what they're doing, why they're doing it, and where they can improve.
- Communicate. If something is going wrong, tell us before it becomes a crisis. If you're going to miss something, say so. If you disagree with a clinical or operational decision, we're perfectly capable of having a professional conversation about it.
- Meet reasonable deadlines. We're flexible about a lot of things. Repeatedly chasing someone down to complete basic professional responsibilities isn't one of them.
- Take ownership of your work. We aren't looking for someone who needs to be managed every hour of the day. We're looking for a professional who sees something that needs attention and handles it.
- Be part of a small team. In a company our size, people matter. We help each other, communicate with each other, and occasionally do things that don't fit perfectly into a corporate job-description box.
Who Will Probably Like It Here
If you're an experienced BCBA who still enjoys practicing behavior analysis but is tired of productivity dashboards, revolving-door management, enormous caseloads, corporate initiatives, and decisions being made by people you've never met, you may really like it here.
This may be an especially good fit if you want enough independence to practice your way while still having access to someone with decades of experience when you encounter a difficult clinical problem or simply want a second opinion.
We're small enough that good work gets noticed, experienced enough that you aren't figuring everything out alone, and established enough that we've learned what matters—and what doesn't.
Who Probably Won't
If you need a highly structured corporate environment, multiple levels of management, or someone regularly reminding you what needs to be done, we're probably not the best fit.
We're intentionally laid-back about things that don't matter very much.
We're not laid-back about taking care of clients, supporting staff, showing up, communicating, or getting your work done.
If you're looking for a long-term professional home where you'll be treated like a professional and expected to act like one, we'd like to talk.
