OrthoGeorgia is seeking an experienced and dependable MRI Technologist to join our Radiology team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and efficient care to every patient.
Job Summary
The MRI Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders, established imaging protocols, and applicable safety standards. This position is responsible for properly screening patients, explaining procedures, positioning patients, operating MRI equipment, and producing accurate images for interpretation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic MRI examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Verify patient identity and confirm the correct examination before beginning the procedure.
- Conduct thorough MRI safety screenings for patients, visitors, and staff entering restricted MRI areas.
- Review patients’ medical histories and identify implants, devices, conditions, or other factors that may affect MRI safety.
- Explain procedures clearly and help patients remain comfortable throughout the examination.
- Properly position patients and select appropriate imaging techniques to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document examinations in the electronic medical record and imaging systems.
- Review images for quality before releasing the patient.
- Follow all infection-control, patient-privacy, and MRI safety requirements.
- Maintain MRI equipment and promptly report equipment concerns or malfunctions.
- Assist with maintaining adequate supplies and an organized imaging area.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Participate in required training, quality-improvement activities, and departmental meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Current ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging—ARRT (MR)—required.
- Current Basic Life Support certification required.
- Previous MRI experience preferred; orthopedic imaging experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of MRI safety requirements, including implant and device screening.
- Ability to produce consistent, high-quality diagnostic images.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient-care skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to assist with positioning and transferring patients.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull equipment and supplies as required.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
CompensationSalary will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant education, professional credentials, and years of experience working as an MRI Technologist. OrthoGeorgia also considers internal pay equity when establishing compensation. The hourly pay range is $28.62-$45.67
