Sōl St. Pete Bistro is seeking a Head Chef / Head Cook who is passionate about cooking vibrant, nourishing food in a calm, intentional kitchen environment.
We are a seasonal farm-to-table bistro focused on organic ingredients and elevated comfort food with a healthy, wholesome twist. Our kitchen is entirely gluten-free and emphasizes seed oil-free, allergy-conscious cuisine in a sober, supportive work environment.
Culinary school is not required - just strong cooking skills, positive leadership, great communication skills, organization, and a genuine passion for high-quality, nourishing food.
Our intimate bistro serves 8 indoor tables and 6 outdoor tables, allowing for a calm, quality-focused kitchen where consistency, attention to detail, and teamwork matter.
Compensation & Schedule
- Starting salary: $800 per week
- Approximately 35-40 hours per week; each day varies
- 5-day schedule (Tuesday–Saturday)
- Opportunity for raises after the first 90 days based on performance, leadership, and consistency
- Daily meals provided
- Paid time off after 1 year of employment
Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen operations
- Run the grill and hot line during service
- Oversee prep and kitchen workflow
- Work closely with and lead kitchen staff
- Manage kitchen organization, cleanliness, and efficiency
- Conduct inventory and communicate kitchen needs to ownership
- Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards
- Ensure food safety and cleanliness at all times
You will have a sous chef assisting you in the kitchen. Ownership manages front-of-house operations and maintains relationships with our farmers and vendors, handling food ordering directly. Your role is to communicate inventory levels, product needs, and kitchen needs clearly so the kitchen runs smoothly.
Qualifications
- Strong cooking and grill experience required
- Leadership experience in a kitchen preferred
- Highly organized and dependable
- Calm under pressure and efficient during service
- Postive attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with gluten-free, seed oil-free, allergy-conscious, or health-focused cooking is a major plus
- English speaking required; Spanish speaking is a strong plus (bilingual preferred)
