JOB SUMMARY
Family Services of Westchester is seeking a US Military Veteran to serve as our Full-Time Director for our Veterans (Vet2Vet) Program in White Plains, NY.
In this role, you will lead and manage program staff, oversee the budget, and guide program activities through strategic planning, hands-on engagement, and community networking. As Director, you will establish yourself as a trusted leader in the military-connected community, providing insight and education as it relates to supporting area Veterans and their families. The Director works closely with VA, Westchester County, and partner organization personnel to provide a well-rounded approach to Veteran well-being.
Under the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program, FSW Vet2Vet brings military Veterans and their families together through Veteran-to-Veteran collaborative events, social activities, and community service, easing the transition from military to civilian life. The program also provides ongoing peer mentorship to Westchester County Veterans, providing social engagement and connection to resources and services that contribute to well-being.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Plan, coordinate, and manage Veteran-focused events to encourage mental / physical health, career advancement and education
- Supervise Peer Mentors to support Veterans and their families through social engagement and resource assistance
- Manage program budget through forecasting, accurate record-keeping and documentation
- Conduct community outreach and networking through active participation in Veteran and mental health trainings and events
- Develop and utilize thorough knowledge of Veteran resources and benefits in order to best serve Vet2Vet clients
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree or higher (Preferred)
