Tessera is seeking a Motivated and Hardworking Metal Mechanic EVT (in training) with a Positive/Professional attitude.
Performs inspections of damaged vehicle bodies, panels, frames, and structural components to determine repair requirements, identify material needs, and establish corrective repair actions.
Fabricates panels, brackets, supports, patch panels, structural components, and other metal parts utilizing cutting, forming, bending, grinding, and welding equipment.
Performs MIG, TIG, stick, and oxy-fuel welding operations on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials in support of vehicle repair and fabrication requirements.
Repairs and straightens damaged frames, body structures, compartments, doors, fenders, and associated components utilizing hydraulic equipment, pulling devices, measuring systems, and fabrication techniques.
Prepares repaired surfaces through grinding, sanding, filling, priming, and finishing operations to ensure proper appearance and coating adhesion.
Applies primers, protective coatings, and finish materials or assists painting personnel in refinishing repaired equipment and vehicle components.
Identifies and repairs corrosion damage and applies protective treatments to prevent deterioration and extend service life of equipment and vehicle structures
Performs body and structural repairs on military vehicles, trailers, support equipment, and specialized mission-essential assets in support of operational readiness requirements.
Ensures all work is performed in accordance with applicable technical manuals, maintenance standards, OEM specifications, Air Force instructions, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and NFPA standards.
Supports fleet readiness objectives by ensuring body repairs, structural repairs, fabrication projects, and refinishing work are completed accurately, safely, and within established production timelines.
Operates welding machines, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel cutting equipment, hydraulic presses, grinders, metal forming equipment, and other fabrication tools in a safe and effective manner
Assists with on-the-job training and knowledge sharing related to fabrication techniques, welding procedures, shop safety, and equipment operation
Maintains accurate maintenance records, inspection documentation, training records, timekeeping information, work orders, parts usage reports, and other required reports utilizing government and company maintenance management systems.
Coordinates with supervisors, customers, government representatives, vendors, and parts suppliers to resolve maintenance issues, obtain technical information, and expedite repairs
Ensures accountability and proper use of tools, diagnostic equipment, government-furnished property, shop equipment, and maintenance supplies
Prepares vehicles, maintenance records, and supporting documentation for customer inspections, compliance reviews, audits, and operational readiness assessments
Promotes a safe work environment by enforcing proper use of personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout procedures, hazardous material controls, housekeeping standards, and established safety practices.
Performs final inspections of completed fabrication, welding, and repair work to verify dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, workmanship quality, and compliance with applicable repair standards prior to equipment release.
Leads emergency or priority maintenance activities to support mission-critical equipment and operational requirements
Performs road tests, operational checks, and final acceptance inspections to verify repair effectiveness and vehicle reliability
Maintains a professional appearance, demonstrates exceptional customer service, and fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
Monitors parts availability, identifies material requirements, and coordinates with supply personnel and vendors to ensure timely procurement of repair parts and maintenance materials necessary to support mission requirements
