Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks and adhere to state laws .
- Load and unload freight using proper manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts when necessary.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, ensuring timely deliveries while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, delivery receipts, and compliance documentation related to freight handling and transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries while providing excellent customer service.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery operations.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements.
- Proficiency with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently during load & unload procedures.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling processes to ensure proper loading/unloading techniques.
- Valid driver’s license and over the age of 25.
