We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, project durations, and constructability reviews using plans, specifications, and digital modeling tools. The Estimator will collaborate closely with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop comprehensive budgets and proposals that support successful project execution.
Duties
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals using construction drawings and specifications
- Review and interpret plans, contracts, and technical documents to ensure scope accuracy and completeness
- Utilize CAD software and digital takeoff tools to analyze drawings, develop quantities, and support estimation accuracy
- Develop conceptual and preliminary estimates using on-screen takeoff and estimating software
- Solicit, evaluate, and manage subcontractor and vendor bids through the RFP process
- Build and maintain project budgets, cost breakdowns, and critical path schedules
- Perform constructability reviews and identify potential risks or cost impacts
- Ensure accurate and complete handoff documentation to field and operations teams
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, engineers, and suppliers
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing, labor trends, and material costs
Experience
- Underground utilities storm, sewer, water (REQUIRED)
- Site development (earthwork, grading, sitework)
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) for plan interpretation, quantity validation, and coordination
- Hands-on experience with estimating and takeoff tools such as AGTEK, Bluebeam, Excel, or equivalent
- Roadway and DOT projects
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and cost drivers
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
- Experience working with municipal, county, and FDOT projects
- Ability to create detailed material takeoffs, cost models, and bid packages
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with digital modeling, plan overlays, and CAD-based quantity verification
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
Pay: From $69,530.55 per year
