Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
- Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely
- Support infection control practices by following aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures for dental equipment
- Collaborate with dentists and other team members to deliver seamless patient care and ensure a positive patient experience
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments
- Proficiency in EHR/EHR management systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation
- Familiarity with infection prevention management, healthcare infection control standards, and aseptic techniques
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
