Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated MIG Welder for our second shift to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding operations using Metal Inert Gas (MIG) techniques to assemble and fabricate metal components according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings. Your expertise will contribute to the creation of durable, precise metal structures and parts, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality specifications. Responsibilities
- Set up welding equipment, including MIG welding machines, ensuring correct parameters for each project based on material type and thickness
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble components
- Measure and verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precision in fabrication
- Perform welding operations on sheet metal, ductwork, piping, and other metal materials following AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes & standards
- Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape and assemble metal parts
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering strictly to safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Conduct quality inspections of welds using calipers, micrometers, and visual checks to ensure compliance with specifications
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving rigging, pipe threading, assembly, and machining tasks
- Document work progress accurately in shift reports and logs
Requirements
- Proven experience in MIG welding within a fabrication shop or construction environment with a focus on sheet metal fabrication
- Strong knowledge of AWS standards, ASME codes & standards related to welding and metal fabrication
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and interpret mechanical blueprints accurately
- Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise measurements
- Familiarity with construction site experience, crane operation basics, rigging techniques, pipe threading, plasma cutting, press brake operation, and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) preferred
- Mechanical knowledge of sheet metal materials, ductwork systems, structural components, and safety protocols adherence
- Experience with hand tools, power tools including grinders and drills; proficiency in using soldering equipment is a plus
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings effectively for accurate assembly and fabrication tasks
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods; capable of lifting heavy materials safely; comfortable working in a manufacturing or construction setting
