Position Overview:
As an EMT-B at Healthlift, you will be responsible for providing interfacility care, monitoring patients during transport, and ensuring their safety and comfort. You will work alongside a team of dedicated professionals to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, making a difference in the lives of those we serve. This includes evaluating patients' injuries or illnesses, providing basic emergency medical care, assisting in freeing individuals from dangerous situations, and transporting patients to hospitals or other medical facilities.

Essential Functions:
Give first aid or basic life support to sick or injured people before they reach the hospital.
Use equipment such as automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and bag valve masks to help patients.
Perform basic emergency procedures like opening airways and monitoring heart rates during ambulance transport.
Observe and record the patient’s condition, treatments given, and responses, then report these details to medical staff.
Evaluate and prioritize the severity of illness or injury to decide the order of care.
Respond to medical emergencies using basic EMT skills.
Apply basic life support techniques as needed.
Share important information about patient care and condition with doctors and nurses.
Keep track of patient progress and how they respond to treatments.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Deliver basic life support (BLS) care in compliance with state and local protocols.
Transport: Safely transport patients to and from healthcare facilities, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Medical Assistance: Monitor patients’ vital signs and administer care under EMT-B scope of practice.
Teamwork: Collaborate with paramedics, other EMTs, and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Vehicle Readiness: Perform routine vehicle and equipment checks to maintain operational readiness.
Documentation: Accurately complete patient care reports and other required documentation in a timely manner.
Compliance: Follow all company policies, state regulations, and EMS protocols.
Professionalism: Represent Healthlift with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to excellence.
Non-Essential Functions:
Keep a neat and professional appearance as outlined in Employee Handbook.
Help train other EMTs in basic job tasks.
Take out trash and help with light office duties.
Keep ambulance and bags stocked.
Help keep vehicles clean and update maintenance records.
Certification and License Requirements:
Must have a valid State driver’s license and a clean driving record at all times.
CPR certification required.
EMT-Basic certification required.
State-issued fingerprint identification card required.
Any additional certifications that the agency requires
Other Qualifications:
Must possess a current Texas DSHS EMT‑Basic (EMT‑B) license.
Prior EMS experience preferred (1-2 years).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
Dependable, punctual, and able to handle stressful situations with composure.
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices):
Must be able to move around throughout the workday.
Must be able to safely drive and operate vehicles following all traffic laws.
Must be able to speak and write English clearly.
Must be able to handle the mental and emotional demands of the job.
Must be able to see and hear (or use aids to help these senses) well enough to meet job requirements.
Must be able to work independently, show flexibility and integrity, and work well with patients, coworkers, and outside agencies.
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, or crouch for several minutes while helping patients or inspecting vehicles.
Must be able to compassionately work with sick, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or sometimes hostile individuals.
Must be able to lift up to 150 pounds regularly and assist with lifting more weight with help.
Frequently push and pull carts or assist in moving patients.
